Cell symposia : Angiogenesis, Metabolic Regulation, and Cancer Biology in association with VIB

Confirmed Speakers

Ralph J. DeBerardinis, University of Texas - Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, USA

Ralph J. DeBerardinisRalph DeBerardinis received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and performed post-graduate clinical training in Pediatrics and Biochemical Genetics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Dr. DeBerardinis is currently the Sowell Family Scholar of Medical Research and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Genetics at the University of Texas – Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.  The DeBerardinis laboratory is interested in understanding the integration between signal transduction and metabolic flux, and in uncovering the mechanisms by which cellular transformation influences metabolic activity.  The laboratory uses a combination of molecular biology, mouse models, imaging and metabolic flux analysis to understand tumor metabolism.  Current work includes developing methods to measure tumor metabolism in vivo in mice and humans, and to generate probes to image tumor metabolism non-invasively, in real time.
